Why the Mandorla?

The Mandorla is an ancient symbol depicting two overlapping circles that form an almond shape in the middle. The two circles of the Mandorla symbolize the interdependence and the interaction of contrasting forces in our lives, such as: feminine and masculine, emotional and intellectual, intuition and logic, creativity and analysis, spiritual and physical, shadow-self and ego-self. When these aspects of our lives are compartmentalized and out of balance, the result is stress and discontent. Becoming a more fully integrated, balanced, and whole person is key to becoming a psychologically, socially, and spiritually mature person and allows us to discover our own true voice - our authentic self. Hence, the space where these forces overlap forms the place where change and creativity takes place, the place of integration, wholeness, and balance, the place of new possibilities in our lives.
